A Scrappy Day

It's been quite awhile since I have scrapped more than a couple pages a week. Well, yesterday I had some pictures developed. Thursday I went and bought a new Cricut Cartridge (a birthday present from my mother-in-law,) Cuttin' Up. I also bought some new cardstock, some alpha stamps, some new brads, and some pipe cleaners--I will play with these another day soon.

Anyway, I grabbed my newly developed prints and sat down for some scrappy time. And low and behold, my three year old cooperated with me and played in his room most of the day. My first layout took me about 3 hours, with a few toddler induced interuptions. Then hubby came home and the two boys went to take naps. More free scrappy time....YEAH! I picked a sketch from my folder and got to work. I completed this layout in about an hour and a half. Boys wake up and it's out to IHOP for dinner, or breakfast. I had the stuffed french toast, YUMMMY! Then we came home, and I sat at my desk yet again. The last page of the day took me about an hour.

I am really happy how these came out. I am estatic about getting so much done today. And the best part is I still feel the Mojo. I have not felt like this in months. I just pray it holds out. And here is my reward for a day well spent!

Happy New Year '09

I made the following layout using the Easy Scrapbook Calendar.

So, what is the Easy Scrapbook Calendar? It is a box calendar that I bought after the 1st of the year at one of those calendar stores. It was 75% off, so I paid like $3 for it.

Anyway each day has photo mats and some embellishments, and each week is themed. Here is an example of a week.

And HERE is a link to where you can purchase one like it!

The 23rd Looms Closer

I find myself getting a little teary eyed as the 23rd of this month draws closer. My baby boy will be three. No longer a baby, but a little boy with dreams and thoughts of his own. I know he still needs me, but he getting more and more independent every day. "I do it myself, mama." I love and hate those words all at the same time. He is growing up WAY to fast. I am not ready to give up my baby boy.

So, I find myself digging out old photos and looking back at the last three years. Where did they go? I want some of that back. I know that's not reality and he has to grow up. So I take those warm memories and create. I love the feelings that are in me when I scrap these images. They make me feel whole. At peace.

Don't grow up too quick CJ, mommy wants to stay "mama" a little longer.

The tiniest things

It really can be the smallest things that make a layout standout above the rest. A small flower, the perfect embellishment in just the right spot, or doodles. One or all of these things can take an otherwise boring layout and make it perfect.

I like the look of stitching. I just think it makes the layout look "finished." But, I don't have a machine, and cannot always stitch by hand. Though I do a lot of stitching on my pages. Two other techniques can be used for the effect of stitching. The first is rub-ons. Though these can get expensive, and can only be used once.

My favorite technique is a good ol' white gel pen or a black pen depending on what color you are working on. It is so easy, and cheap to create your own stitching on your layouts. Just mimic the stitch that you want on your layout with your pen.

Here are few examples of stitching with a pen.

The first is a brand new layout:
Genius @ Play
The second is an older layout. I used pen stitching to make the stars. (you may need to click on the picture to enlarge.)
Play-doh Fun

So go and get your pens out and "stitch" up a storm!
