Easy Flower Tutorial

Ok I'm not so good at the video thing, so I have a picture tutorial for you. I hope you can follow along.This is the flower we will be making:
What you will need:
Scotch Tape
Adhesive Runner
Circle Punch (for this I used 1")
Double Sided card stock
Ink
Chipboard or Cardstock circle larger than your other circlesStart by punching 10 circles out of your double sided card stock.Then, you will want to choose which side you will want your petals to be. For my flower, I chose the green to be the petals. With your ink pad ink the edges of the petal side.Then start folding your circles. You will fold one side of the circle at about 1/4",and then repeat and fold the other side so that your petal now looks like a flat cone:
Make 10 of these, alternating which side you fold first, the left or the right.
Now assemble the petals in pairs by taping the backs of the opposite petals together as shown below:You will then have 5 pieces, continue by adhering these to each other, again using the scotch tape.As you tape these together you will notice that it will probably not lay flat, don't worry as this will be fine.Set your flower aside and grab your chipboard or larger card stock circle. Cover with the adhesive of your choice.Apply to the back of your petals:Turn over and this is what you should see:Add a center like a brad or button to complete the flower!And that's it! I hope you found this tutorial easy to follow!

Busy Busy Busy

So I am sorry I have not posted in awhile, what else is new right? Anyway I am preparing on very short notice to attend a bazaar on Saturday and try to sell some of my creations. The bazaar is being held for the American Cancer Society: Relay for Life and I will be donating 25% of my sales to this wonderful charity. I have about 20 cards made, and about 50 or so glass magnets. I am planning to make more over the next few days. Wish me luck! Here are some samples of what I have done.

Cropped til I dropped!

Yesterday, Saturday I went to a Close to my Heart party at a friend's house. Afterward we stayed and scrapped. Now usually when I attend this sort of thing I do more talking than scrapping. Don't we all?? But yesterday, I found a groove and just stayed there for 12 hours!!! I scrapped from 11am to 11pm! I managed to get 5 pages done, 3 single pages and a double!!! This brings my total for the year to 60 personal layouts completed for the year! Last year I only had 75 total so I am closing in fast!!!

So ya wanna see what I got done? Well I'll show ya anyway!! :)

Another New-to-Me Technique

Ok, so I was Wal-mart earlier today and was browsing through the craft department. I found these:Aren't they cute!?!?

Well I remembered that when I was at CKC in February, I had picked up a kit that had some iron-ons in it. Mind gets to thinking and the next thing I know one of these little babies is in my cart.
Off to see Toy Story 3 and dinner with the family.....now it's me time. Time for a little paper crafting. I wanted to try out my new iron darn it! So I found a small image to give it a shot, and it works perfectly. I made this really cute card.The 'Best Friend' sentiment is the iron on. I also used my new embossing folder that I got from Oh My Crafts! It is the A2 Brackets from Quickutz. It worked perfectly with my Cuttlebug! A few more touches and this card was done! Easy Peasy!

Design Studio Tutorial #1-Basic Welding

Ok ladies, I am gonna give this a shot. Let me know ho
w everything looks, and if I need to change anything.

Welcome to Design Studio!! The most basic feature and one of the main reasons I love my DS is for the simple fact that I can weld any 2 or more objects together. Here is a very quick lesson on two ways to weld. I am working with the George Cartridge using shapes, but this tutorial can be applied to any cartridges that you own.

The first way to weld is to have your object in the same text box. In this case I chose two circles.


Then go over to the kerning box and enter a negative number. Try -.01 or -.02 to get started. The smaller the number, the closer the objects will be together. If you just have 2 objects, you can also use the nudge arrows, but we will get to those in another lesson


Preview, Preview, Preview. I can't say this enough. To preview your work and to see exactly how it will cut, open a second page, and click on the eyeball.


I noticed that the weld box was not checked while I was in my preview. When working with shapes all in the same text box, clicking the weld box will make everything in that text box welded.


Previewing your page again, you will see that the weld has been made and see exactly how your cut will look.


The second way to weld is using objects in separate text boxes. Here I chose a circle and a triangle.


For this type of welding the kerning will not work. You will have to 'grab' the objects with the handles to move them or use the directional keypad.


Since the images are independent of each other, you will need to click the weld box for each image that is to be welded together.


By previewing yet again, you will see that one of the shapes did not have the weld box checked.


After going back and checking the weld box and previewing again, we see the weld has been made and you are ready to cut.


I hope this tutorial helped those that needed it. Please let me know what else you want to learn. Now let's break out those Cricuts and Computers and get to welding. I would love to see a welded title on a layout!!
